Bangladesh filter system

The company Pama Green Energy came up with two filtration systems: a micro-filter and an arsenic filter,

arcenic filtermicro-filtetr

the target group of this project are the inhabitants of Bangladesh. This is because the rainfall in Bangladesh is very high, and there is not enough clean water available for these people. With the micr0-filter water can be made clean from sand and bacteria. Arsenic is a substance which is found in the ground water of Bangladesh. This substance is dangerous, it may cause cancer.

My target: Design a product to make these filters work together. User-friendliness, cost price and safety are the key-words of this project.

Tests:

– natural filter
If natural filters really work, it can replace the micro-filter. This makes the design more cost efficient.

– speed micro-filter (Liters/hour)
Important to know is that the micro-filter doesn’t work without pressure. The higher the water level the faster the water will go trough the filter.

– speed arsenic filter (Liters/hour)tests

Results:
The natural filter works for pre-filtering, but natural filtering alone can not replace the micro-filter. The water was still not fully clean, besides it’s not user-friendly.

The arsenic has a speed of 4,2 L/h
At a water level height of 750 cm, the speed is also 4,2 L/h.  So the two filters work perfectly together. Now we know what height the product needs to be!

Concept1:
Three households work together with this product. Every household gets a gutter to collect rainwater and a natural filter. The filter needs to be lifted up in the tree to be able to process the water rapidly.

Concept2:
Make use of a handpump to higher up the pressure.

Concept 3 & 4.
no expenation needed
